ABOUT
Originally from Ontario, Canada, I now live in the beautiful Willamette Valley, outside of Portland, Oregon. I make art out of my studio on Chehalem Mountain.
The past while, I have been learning about and experimenting with stitch, pattern and fibre manipulation. Some highlights of this have been studying surface design at the Oregon College of Art and Craft, and attending workshops taught by celebrated Canadian textile artists Penny Berens, Judy Martin and Vikki Favreau.
I have also had my hands in the dye pot, experimenting with natural dyes, and creating botanical contact prints with locally-foraged leaves.
I intend my pieces to fully engage the senses, nudging the viewer to experience the softness of naturally- printed and dyed textiles, or to contemplate Nature’s sumptuous light and colour. Patina and texture are ever-present in my work. Imperfections are celebrated. Words— sometimes in the form of my own poetry — accompany.
